Street photography is an exercise in observing with the intent to capture moments that tell stories.

The city is infused with energy and there is always something happening. The is especially true in a place like Amsterdam where you have bicycles zipping around, sometimes from all directions.

People riding bicycles in Amsterdam isn’t about cycling. Riding a bike in Amsterdam is simply about living. When people are being themselves, it spawns a full spectrum of life. But this is what makes street photography in this magnificent town so unique and at times challenging.

Attempting to shoot people riding bikes, one needs to respond quickly as possible. This sometimes means riding a bike with a camera in hand set to a fast shutter speed. Another times its about being a fly on the wall and perhaps poking on the perimter of a crowd of tourists.

I’m pleased to share my first post of 2017, the winter edition of bicycle street photography in Amsterdam.
