A few months ago, I received some positive life changing news. I have the fortunate opportunity to live and work in the Netherlands. In many ways, this is a dream come true as I will return to where it all started.
My first trip to Amsterdam in 2004 was a catalyst in many regards. Witnessing an endless stream of bicycles contributed to a mild form of culture shock. I was captivated by the casual approach and degree of awareness of people on bikes. I was inspired and no longer wanted to be spectator. Upon returning to Toronto, I purchased my first bike.
Having just arrived, my first photo in this city is of a mural that seems all too fitting. Whether it was my first or last capture in Amsterdam, the all-encompassing wisdom of the words painted on this wall will always remind me of an undeniable truth.
Brains travel on bikes.
