Safety Cycle Club of America (1942)

I always get a kick out of old safety manuals. The Official Safety Manual by the Safety Cycle Club of America (1942) is one such example. Safety Education coupled with the resulting gruesome reality of not following the rules.

Fractured skulls, broken backs and death are common themes in each episode. Perhaps it was the brutality of war in the minds of the public that made it acceptable even with the tongue-in-cheek Archie Comic style illustrations. Whatever the case, it deserves the respect of a period piece.
